CEDAW & tobacco:
A Human Rights Issue
Project Overview
In partnership with Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), this campaign spotlighted how the tobacco industry’s actions violate the rights of women and girls, using the CEDAW framework to call for accountability on a global scale.
My Role
I led the visual storytelling and strategic communication for this campaign—translating complex research into engaging content that resonated with advocates, policymakers, and international audiences.
Key Deliverables
Design of infographics, social media graphics, and visual assets
Development of messaging framework and advocacy narrative
Creation of digital content for CEDAW engagement
Support materials for policy advocates and UN submissions
The Impact
The campaign garnered international attention, influencing discourse at the CEDAW Committee and helping position tobacco control as a gender justice and human rights issue.
Why It Matters
This project reframed tobacco control through a feminist, global health lens, highlighting how corporate practices exploit and harm women—especially in low- and middle-income countries—and elevating the call for accountability and justice.
